If you've looked into getting a new credit card, you've probably heard of the Discover It Card. The Discover More card was discontinued a few years ago and replaced by Discover it Money Back, which comes with a 1st year annual bonus and better interest rates. Discover More also offers 12 month zero interest on balance transfers and purchases, while Discover it Money Back extends this offer by 2 months, offering an extra 0% to continue. But how does the Discover It Card compare to other cards?
On paper, the differences between the two cards look pretty clear. They both offer zero percent on balance transfers and purchases for the first full year after the card is issued, as well as an introductory period of interest free. However, the differences really stop there. The Discover It Card offers a lower annual fee, but the terms of the welcome bonus are much worse than those of the other cards, and the cashback aspect of the Discover It Card really isn't much of a benefit compared to the others.
For one thing, these cards all charge an annual fee of some amount. Some of this fee goes to cover the expenses of providing the service to their members. Most of it however is just profit for the bank, who earns money off of the interest paid by its customers. With the Discover It Card, the majority of the fees you pay go to pay for the zero percent interest aspect of the promo period, and not for the actual cash back card itself. In fact, many people find that their interest payments are actually more than they were paying before getting the card.
These fees aside, though, the Discover It Card has some great perks. First, you get six months to use the cash back credit card before it expires. During this time, you're allowed to earn as much as one thousand dollars in bonus points, which can then be used at the business. You also get access to a special one hundred and twenty-four hour customer service desk and up to three thousand dollars of reward points for just spending $75. The best part?
With the Discover It Card, cardholders have the ability to get their cash back from the credit card's grace period. If they wish to earn more, they just need to spend a little more. In fact, the introductory offer allows cardholders to earn five to ten times more money than what they could earn with other cards! With the Discover It Card, cardholders are able to earn up to fifty percent more in cash back, and it's not the same everywhere.
Of course, this cash back card is only good for those with excellent credit ratings. If you have less than excellent credit, you may want to consider another option instead. There are several other cash back cards that are available, and most of them have different methods of earning rewards. While Discover It Cash Back Cards may not be the best option for you, there are plenty others out there that will suit your specific needs. Keep in mind that if you do choose to apply for a Discover It Card, make sure that you can meet all of the requirements before you start receiving your rewards!
